Joseph L. Subbiondo, President Emeritus of California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), servedas President of CIIS from1999-2016. Prior to this appointment, he served as Dean of the School of Liberal Arts at St. Mary’s College of California; Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of the Pacific; and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Santa Clara University. In addition to his administrative appointments, Mr. Subbiondo has been a tenured faculty member of the English Departments at Santa Clara University, Saint Mary’s College of California, and the University of the Pacific, and non-tenured at Villanova University. He has presented and published extensively on the history of linguistics, especially regarding the works of John Wilkins and the seventeenth-century philosophical language movement. Presently, he presents and publishes papers on interrelationships among language, consciousness, and education; integral linguistics; integral higher education; spirituality and interfaith dialogue in higher education; and integral leadership. Mr. Subbiondo has led and served on more than 25 accreditation visiting teams for U.S. colleges and universities in the Western and North Western regions. He received his under graduate education at St. John’s University (New York) and his graduate education at the University of Southern California and Temple University.
