Track: Psychedelics – Science, Spirituality and Therapeutic Potential
Mariavittoria Mangini, PhD, FNP, is the Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Holy Names University in Oakland, California, where her current project is the development of a Thanatology program for the study of death and dying. In 2007 she founded the Women’s Visionary Council which provides a forum for women scholars, healers, artists and visionaries to present their ideas and work in an environment in which the voices of women are in the majority. A graduate of Vassar College and The University of California, San Francisco, she has written extensively on the impact of psychedelic experiences in shaping the lives of her contemporaries, and has worked closely with many of the most distinguished investigators in this field. As one of the faculty mentors for the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research, she encourages the practice of rigorous qualitative inquiry as a way to acquire a deeper understanding of the ways in which individuals organize and derive meaning from events and experiences.
