Peace frightens. Peace, power, anxiety.

Wars and terrorism in many parts of the world. Mass migration of refugees, searching for redemption in the rich countries of the world. Cultural clashes, populism and distractedness, psychological and spiritual distortedness.

Wars at all times belong to the history of humankind and so is the longing for peace – individually, collectively, and spiritually.  
Why is it so difficult to create a peaceful world? It seems to be one of the most afflicting questions today. Why the enormous destruction of humans against humans?

There are the rich and the poor, injustice and imbalance. And there is the experience that people react very differently on all this destruction and violence. Some may carry it on, others are able to cut off the bonds of hatred and revenge, others completely transform: Anxiety becomes compassion and love.

What does this mean?

Are some better than others? Who am I honoring the ones, dooming the others? What may be the motive of a suicide bomber?
Humankind in these times yearns for its renewal, it yearns for a new birth. May we all be courageous and wise enough to confront our ignorance of not knowing who we really are.

The individual, the collective, the eternal – that’s what I am.  I am the world; but who is the world?
