Active Egolysis as a path to personal transformation
Active Egolysis (AE) is a practically oriented approach to transpersonal psychotherapy which I developed during my private practice over the last 25 years. It is grounded in the intellectual framework of Stanislav Grof and is also deeply inspired by the practical approaches of John Weir Perry. Compared to ego-centred psychotherapies, AE is exo-centred. It doesnť support clients in answering their question: What is good for me?. It poses essentially different questions: How am I good for this world? How can I contribute to the joy of all beings?
AE uses transpersonal ways to support clients in fulfilling their personal potential. This path leads to humbleness, bravery and independency. AE expects clients to take full responsibility for their own actions and to be aware of their impact on other people's lives, on the world, on nature and the universe.
The key tools of AE are the following complementary approaches: original dynamic work with music, vipassana meditation, heart opening yoga and the specific sharing of personal life stories in order to discover their transpersonal context. AE is future oriented. It does not delve into the client's past. It uses ones personal history to create realistic projects for his/her future life journey. The therapists are not distant observers, instead they offer authentic emotions and share their own life stories too. This leads to mutual enrichment and growth. Therapists are available as long-term guides supporting clients in integration of their experiences. They provide a safe space which can be used in crucial moments of life. Together they work with clients on finding achievable solutions to their life situations where the client decides which way to go and gets therapeutic support.
The successful result of the therapy is not necessarily ones personal happiness. AE inspires clients by promoting the joy and well-being which they actively bring back to their communities.
Patricie Anzari has almost 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist. In 1988 together with Marie Grofova she initiated the first (in that time unofficial) training in Holotrophic Breathwork in the former Czechoslovakia. She is a certified facilitator of Holotropic Breathwork. After the Velvet Revolution, from 1990 to 1997 she was the author and the voice of the very popular transpersonally-oriented radio show called Prameny poznani (Sources of knowledge) where she hosted all her key teachers e.g. Stanislav Grof, John Wier Perry, Ram Dass and Chunliang al Huang. Since 1990 she runs her private practice in Prague. Inspired by her teachers she developed her unique approach – Active Egolysis (AE). She established her own retreat centre located in the middle of beautiful nature in Northern Bohemia where she practices AE.
